The tropical rainforest in Tiwai Island is undoubtedly one of Sierra Leone’s wildlife highlights. Encircled by the lazily flowing water of the Mia River you are immersed in the sights and sounds of one of the world’s densest and most diverse chimpanzees and monkeys. Web of trails weave through the Tiwai forest allowing visitors and researchers to explore up to 50 km of walking paths.
If you move silently through the forest, you can glimpse some of the rarest and most colorful primates in the world, such as the Diana and Colubos monkeys.
